Forbes City Guide Chicago 2010 (Forbes Travel Guide City Guide Series) ReviewForbes' 2010 Chicago City Guide is a pocket sized guide about 4"x7" and 3/8" thick or small enough to fit in a back pocket or purse. The guide provides ratings for hotels, restaurants, and some spas as well as lists of attractions broken down by "What to See," "Shopping," "Nightlife," and "Arts & Culture." The "What to See" section lists just the very major attractions such as large museums or very famous sights and is grouped by area/neighborhood (Loop, Printers Row, Old Town, Lincoln Park, etc.) The restaurant and hotel sections seemed to be geared toward the high-end establishments (although I did see The Billy Goat Tavern mentioned). I found the maps to be small and not well detailed for walking. The color pictures were well rendered but it was hit-or-miss on if they could be helpful in finding an attraction. Many seemed to be photos of the inside of stores or restaurants.I grew up in the Chicago area and worked in both Printers Row and the Loop for seven year. I found the guide contained information that "hit the high points" for a first-time Chicago experience. I would recommend this guide to business travelers who only have a short amount of time in town and anyone on their first trip to "The Windy City."
