The University of Chicago biographical sketches ReviewThis second volume of Goodspeed's short Chicago biographies is a solid continuation of the first volume. Some of the later biographies in this series, those of lesser known benefactors, felt a bit detached. My only guess is that these were men whom Goodspeed had not met personal. Goodspeed's key virtue as a biographer is the autobiographical perspective he takes on his subjects--this was necessarily missing in a few of these sketches, and, unfortunately, they suffered for it.The University of Chicago biographical sketches Overview
