Doing Max Vinyl (An Annie Ogden Mystery) (Volume 1) ReviewI downloaded this book to my Kindle 9 hours ago and if it hadn't been for my children needing dinner and love, I would have finished it 8 hours ago. It was a super quick read and I fell into the story easily.
I wanted to not like Max Vinyl but he was just so well-written, as were all the other characters, especially Annie, I couldn't help it. Dialog flowed and the feel of the story never shifted.
Details, location, and character definition are a talent Frederick Lee Brooke has in abundance. The plot was a playfully thin, like a good noir mystery, and the theme was subtle, but both bring you where you need to go. The environmental issue was subtle enough to bring it a little closer to the surface (water pun, intended) for those who are not aware without being a gigantic hand constantly smacking the reader. I'm from near Chicago, and a water-lover, this is an issue, not just here, either.
Loved the book. Thank you Mr. Brooke. Give us more.
